“Shit” I cursed as I pulled out of her.
She was looking at me with wide eyes, as if she had heard it too.
“What did you do” she rasped, looking at me.
“I.. I…” I stopped short. How the hell was I going to explain that I had marked her without permission, and I had made her pregnant.
I still did not understand how she was pregnant. It has always been known that pregnancies between a vampire and a human were very rare, and close to impossible. They had actually been tamed impossible.
“Kayden, it felt amazing.” She said rubbing my cheek with her palm. “What did you do?”
“I marked you” I said in a whisper, regret finally washing over me.
She froze at my words.
“Só that’s why I felt like that, like I am connected to you suddenly,” she asked still rubbing my cheek comfortingly. I nodded my yes, my mind was else where though. Like how the hell I was going to tell her she was pregnant. That I had out her in danger, that her life was now more at risk than it was before.
‘…looks like my pet has done it for me…” ????????
I frowned as remembered Kevin words at the Palace.
“You don’t look so happy Kayden, do you regret it?” She asked with a twinge of sadness.
I smiled reassuringly at her. I sat beside her on the bed and pulled her against my chest.
“No. I don’t regret it. I just made you mine officially. I was just a bit disappointed that I did it without your consent” I explained.
She nodded lightly then didn’t say anything else.
“There is something you’re not telling me, something that is bothering you” she said.
“Um no, why do you say that?” I asked.
“I feel it, I feel the turmoil going on in your head, and I feel the guilt still eating you up, and I feel love, but not love for me alone. It’s love for me and something else, I just don’t know what that something else is” she sighed.
I frowned, something was seriously wrong. I know the bond could lead to shared emotions, but this was something else. It was something weirder.
I shot up from the bed and Lia looked at me with a huge frown.
“I have to go back to the Palace” I explained as I began walking towards my bathroom to take a bath.
“Do you want me to join?” She asked.
“No baby, get some rest. You need it” I muttered the last part.
“Kayden, are you sure you’re not hiding something from me?” She questioned.
I nodded my yes, “yeah baby, rest” I said.
As I took my shower, my mind was racing. What the hell was I supposed to do now?
I showered as quickly as could, deciding that Terrisa would clearly have answers. I needed an explanation, and an solution hopefully.
As I walked out of the shower I saw that Lia was now asleep. I sighed in relief as I knew I didn’t have to explain and answer her suddenly very deep questions.
I put on my clothes quickly then I walked over to the bed. I looked at my sleeping mate. The lady that was taunting my dreams everyday now.
And again, I heard that faint heartbeat. One that made my heart clench. The fact that that was my baby inside her, my blood. Even under the circumstances that she was conceived, she was still mine. I say she because I believe it’s going to be a she. A Princess to my kingdom. Half vampire or not she was my blood.
“I love you” I whispered, referring to both my beautiful mate and the child she was carrying.
I leaned and kissed her forehead.
And then I left, praying that Terrisa could give me an explaination.
I woke up tired. Like something had drained the life out of me.
I rubbed my eyes as I woke up and walked to the bedroom.
I looked at myself in the mirror and almost didn’t recognise myself. I looked pale and drained of blood. But that couldn’t be possible because Kayden hadn’t drunk from me.
Ohh my God Kayden. My fingers ran over the mark that was now embedded on my neck.
He had marked me. I was now his.
I sighed, a feeling of contentment washing over me, but there was that feeling of uneasiness that was washing over me. A certain dread which I couldn’t discern was filling me. Suffocating me.
I pushed it away as best as I could and went to take a shower.
I walked down the stairs, feeling even more died than I have ever felt in my life.
I smiled when I reached the kitchen and saw a Emily and Leah standing there.
“Good morning” I said.
They turned to look at me with smiles but their smiles faltered when they saw me.
“Goodness child, are you alright?” Leah gasped.
I looked at her curiously.
“Off course I am. Why do you ask?” I said, although I had to admit I was feeling a bit weaker than normal, but other than that….
“Oh my God, did Kayden mark you” Emily gasped.
I sighed realising that my effort to hide the mark Kayden had left had been futile.
“Yeah I guess he did” I said in response.
“I am going to kill him” Emily said through gritted teeth.
At the mention of someone killing Kayden, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, almost like a…. kick?
I gasped as I felt the pain again.
“Oh my God , are you okay?” Emily asked coming to my side almost immediately but she stopped short
“Ohh my God!” She gasped.
I looked at her and the look on her face told me all was not well.
“Emily” I began but stopped short when another sharp pain shot through me.
I screamed out in pain. Immense pain.
“Relax Talia. That’s just the baby kicking” Emily soothed, rubbing my back.
“Baby?!” Both Leah and I exclaimed.
I felt the room spinning.
“Kayden,..” I gasped sharply as another bolt of pain seared through me.
And then everything just went black.
